osbconf - Open Source Backup Conference

The core theme of the Open Source Backup Conference (osbconf) is the development and application of open source software solutions for data backup – covering latest developments, conveying strategic knowledge and presenting empirical reports. The agenda includes strategic presentations, best practices, case studies and technical talks on open source backup solutions.

The congress provides an ideal opportunity for backup specialists to meet up, exchange views and establish ties with other community members. Influential representatives, decision makers and developers from the international open source community seize the opportunity to exchange ideas with other members of the open source community, to initiate future-oriented projects and to gain practical experience.

Over the years the conference has concentrated more on more on Bareos and its surrounding infrastructure.

A crowd of 50 backup professionals from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and USA came together for 2 days in 09/2017 in Cologne (Germany) benefit from international expert talks, use cases, best practices, technical deep dives and success stories.

With six presentations regarding the latest trends and developments in open source backup solutions the conference served as an ideal setting for high level discussions and intens exchange of know-how and experiences amongst the participants.

We are very proud about being able to welcome 65 participants from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Netherland and of course from Germany to this years conference.

We are very proud about being able to welcome 60 participants from Austria, Belgium, England, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy and of course from Germany to this years conference.

While the conference has had its only focus on Bacula in the years 2009 until 2012, 2013 has been the first year, where all Open Source backup solutions have been invited to present there progress. One of the main reasons for this has been the emerging of Bareos. Therefore the conference has been renamed from “Bacula Conference” to “Open Source Backup Conference”. Sure, the main focus has still been Bacula (Open Source Edition) and its successor Bareos, but also the Disaster Recovery framework relax-and-recover has presented its newest release.
