Schroedingers Backup

This presentation talks about how a backup does not exists unless the restore can be proven. While there are multiple backup tools that can create backups, such as rsync, dumps, bacula/bareos, amanda, and so on. If these backups are not tested, the state of the backup is the same as Schroedinger’s cat, both alive and death at the same time, and so is a backup good and bad until the restore can be tested. The presentations gives some examples to test restores and how this can be integrated into a pipeline with additional reporting.
